I went into a store and tried out an overpriced, cheaply made-in-China ukelele that had a self -tuning apparatus. I was curious what type of battery it needed so I tried to open the small plastic hatch that housed the battery. Well, without using any real force, the plastic opening tab broke in my hand! The store owner insisted that I buy the entire instrument! I told him I didn't want to buy something that was made so cheaply that it breaks under such little usage. He siad he would repair the part and he expected me to still buy it. I told him I didn't want to buy the instrument and that I would just pay for the broken part. He thinks I'm wrong, I think I'm being fair.

Isn't it ironic that they say that apples clean your teeth better than toothbrushes, yet pieces of apple always get stuck in-between teeth?

lighthouse haha so true
Micheal Collins I still prefer eating apple to toothbrush fibers... Not since the Great Hunger of Forty Three have I been reduced to that.......

Two Georgia teen boys demanding money murdered a 13-month-old boy in a stroller being pushed by his mother. We have to ban guns in the US, NOW!

Discuss
lighthouse so sad.
bismarck Better to argue for regulations on gun ownership. Few counties in the world have a complete ban on guns. The gun nuts like to say their opponents want to ban guns completely, its a mistake to take that line as it plays into their hands.
moomba guns will never be completely banned in the US. we can only hope that regulations on ownership become more strict.
lighthouse Regulations won't stop children from taking guns from their parents and using them like they did in the Georgia case.

What the heck is North Korea doin now?

Micheal Collins the NK dictatorship is doing the same thing it has ever done, create a bogey man to distract the people from its internal woes, and legitimize its control over its own people. But i guess you could say that about a few nations....
bismarck drawing attention to external enemies, real and imagined, is common throughout history. However the case of N. Korea is extreme and one should not suppose there is a moral equivalency between there behaviour and that of most other contemporary nations. And remember, sometimes the bad guy really is out to get you:) The trick is to know when the threat is real and when it is contrived.
lighthouse We don't know what KJU is thinking. We need to plan for the worse even though it might just be acting.
Micheal Collins NK is teetering and tottering. The dictatorship can only be held in place with iron rule. When such dictatorships lessen their grip, they always collapse. It's an irony of history that once monarchies began to loosen and reform that finally revolutions had space to begin.

Fortunately, there is no religious group seeking primacy in NK so if the dictatorship falls we probably won't see another Iraqistan... But there's plenty of room for another Russia, given the vastness of the system that keeps a relatively small yet numerous coterie of people in power and prestige.

I can easily see the equivalent of Russian oligarchs grabbing industry. There will be a lot of disaffeted military as well as a regular state cannot support their army (third biggest in the world, i think)

Doubt it will be Germany either, with a reconciliation between east and west, though that's surely the optimal scenario.

chopin Beloved by his people, because he helped the poor and improved infrastructure and education using the oil money. However, he didn't invest the money correctly, so the economy is suffering. Also,he passionately hated the USA.
bismarck sad when any person passes away, but Venezuela will probably be better off without out him
lighthouse I'm not so sure they feel this way. Some people like to be led, then they don't have to think. Unfortunately, this is usually the poor people.
